July 2024 Electoral Calendar



July 5 - Intra-party advertising: Beginning of the period in which parties can carry out internal advertising to choose candidates for mayor, deputy mayor and councilor, except on radio, TV and billboards, which must be removed after the convention.


July 6 - Administrative Restrictions and Advertising: A ban on various administrative actions until the elected take office, including hiring and firing civil servants, transferring resources and carrying out institutional advertising, except in cases of emergency or public necessity.


July 8 - Deadline for Source Codes: Last day for inspection entities to deliver the source codes of verification programs to the Electoral Justice.


July 9 - Appointment of poll workers: Publication of the names of the poll workers who will work in sections set up in penal establishments and adolescent detention centers.


July 12 - Aggregation of Electoral Sections: Deadline for registering the aggregation of electoral sections.


July 16 - Release of Notices: The TSE can release communiqués to the electorate until August 15 and in the three days prior to the election.


July 19 - Polling Places: Deadline for the creation of new polling places in penal establishments and adolescent detention centers.


July 20 - Party Conventions: Beginning of conventions to choose candidates for mayor, deputy mayor and councillor, and other related activities, such as sending out minutes and attendance lists, requests for voter registration, etc.


July 21 - Consultation of Voting Places: Voting places are available on the internet for temporary transfer of sections.


July 22 - Qualification to Vote: Deadline to qualify with the Electoral Court to vote in another section or location within the same municipality for various groups, such as provisional prisoners, people with disabilities, and civil servants on duty on election day.


July 26 - Composition of the Electoral Boards: Last day for publication of the notice with the names of the people nominated to make up the electoral boards.


July 30 - Institutional Advertising: Deadline for the TSE to promote institutional advertising encouraging the participation of women, young people and blacks in politics, and clarifying the rules of the electoral system.


Pre-Candidate Moment: July is crucial for pre-candidates to get their act together and prepare for the party conventions. It's the time to consolidate alliances, define strategies and ensure visibility within the parties, taking advantage of intra-party advertising and meeting the legal deadlines.
